As a way to celebrate and honor Nick’s birthday, the NSW Foundation has committed to make a donation every December to a deserving organization. This donation will serve as a way to further the work and mission of other organizations as well as bless the lives of those that the organizations serve. In 2013, the NSW Foundation made a donation to the Volunteers of America to go towards providing transitional housing for homeless veterans in Pensacola, Florida.
Volunteers of America is a non-profit organization that serves more than 2 million people spanning over 400 communities in 46 states as well as the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. Since 1896, they have supported and empowered America’s most vulnerable groups, including veterans, at-risk youth, the frail elderly, men and women returning from prison, homeless individuals and families, people with disabilities, and those recovering from addictions.
The donation by the NSW Foundation was made to the Florida branch of Volunteers of America where it will be used at the Veteran’s facility in Pensacola. Volunteers of America of Florida helps veterans and their families find safe and affordable housing as well as provide vital support services they need. These support services can include making veterans aware of benefits they are entitled to, mentoring and peer-to-peer support, and providing employment services that include assessment, training and placement.
The NSW Foundation was proud to contribute to the Volunteers of America and assist in the mission to serve those who have served us.
