The Fallen Heroes of Georgia 5K race took place Saturday, March 14, 2015 at the Lake Lanier Islands Resort in Buford, GA. This race takes place each year to honor and remember Georgia’s Fallen Soldiers who have been killed in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. All race proceeds benefit charities created in memory of a Fallen Georgia Soldier, and last year the Captain Nicholas Schade Whitlock Foundation was added to the befitting charities list.
This year the race had over 1,000 runners who participated in the event, and the NSW Foundation contributed both in runners as well as volunteers to set up and hand out water. The NSW Foundation received a very generous donation from the event of $5,000 which will go directly to help fund the Nicholas Whitlock Leadership Scholarship as well as the Nicholas S. Whitlock Memorial Scholarship. The NSW Foundation would like to thank both the Run for the Fallen, Inc. and Steve Durling for their support of the heroes we have lost as well as our foundation.
