2019 Nicholas Whitlock Leadership Scholarship Recipient: James Tripp

Congratulations to our 2019 Nicholas Whitlock Leadership Scholarship Recipient: James “Hutch” Tripp

Hutch is an incredible young man who we are proud to honor with this scholarship. As a student he achieved many impressive academic successes including a 4.0 GPA, membership in Beta Club and National Honor Society, and participation in multiple academic clubs in school. He was a member of History club, Key club, French club, Student Government, and Newnan High Ambassadors. He participated in the History Bowl and Bee in Washington D.C., the Science Bowl, and Academic Bowl.

Hutch was an impressive student within his school, but as importantly, he was also an impressive member of his community.  He initiated an Adopt-a-Senior program bringing together Ambassadors and residents of a local Senior Living Community for fun and fellowship.  He also initiated a fundraiser for the non-profit “Can’t Never Could”, and has also participated in an Adopt-a-Veteran program.  Within his church, he has gone on a mission trip each summer since his sixth grade year including: Colorado, California, Texas, Wyoming, and the Dominican Republic.  He has been very involved with ministry at Camp Glisson, and plans to be a counselor there in 2020.

In 2018 he earned the impressive achievement of Eagle Scout, and since then has earned four palms and has acted as Junior Assistant Scoutmaster for a year.

Congratulations to our very worthy recipient, James “Hutch” Tripp, and we wish you all the best in your continued endeavors!
