Arlington Tree Planting

We are humbled to share this act of kindness by the members of the 34 ESOS-A Aircrew.  The members of the 34 ESOS-A Aircrew wanted to do something to honor the 1 year anniversary of the death of their fellow comrades.  The crew was deployed together during the anniversary and was not able to attend the memorial event.  In memory of their fallen comrades, the 34 ESOS-A Aircrew has donated a tree to be planted in the Arlington National Cemetery.

The Arlington National Cemetery honored this donation and created the Guided Horticulture Tour and Tree Planting event.  This event took place on April 26, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  The event began with an educational horticulture tour of the grounds of Arlington National Cemetery.  After the tour, the attendees were invited to join the family and friends in the planting of the Kwanzan cherry tree donated by the 34 ESOS-A Aircrew.  The tree was planted on the east side of the gravesite of the four fallen airmen.  The tree and gravesite are located in Section 60, gravesite 10124.

The pictures below were provided by Captain Rich Harr, member of the 34 ESOS-A Aircrew.  He attended the event and participated in the tree planting along side of the Senior Airman Scholten’s mother and brother.
