In Oct. 2012 the Newnan-Coweta County Airport announced the airport would be officially renamed Newnan-Coweta County Airport, Whitlock Field to honor of Capt. Nicholas Whitlock’s sacrifice, the service and sacrifice of the many young men and women who learned to fly at the airport, and the many contributions of the Whitlock family to Coweta County. A Newnan native, Nick enjoyed lessons and flying out of the airport throughout high school and following college.
On Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. the airport will be dedicated as Whitlock Field. The dedication will be held at the Newnan-Coweta Airport, which is located at 115 Airport Road, Newnan, GA and is a public event, so all are welcome to come and show their support.
